DonPI grew up in the gritty streets of Brooklyn Ny, around hustlers, ball players and just everyday grinders. I was born on June 9, 1989 to a Jamaican hustling father and a hardworking Panamanian mother. Like every cliche my father hung around till I was about 1 years old. I had a large strong family of Uncles and Aunts to fill that void. Family was everything I needed to excel through the tough streets of New York. At the age of 18 I decided that the only way out was to join the Marines. I had found myself fighting Gang Members and grown man just to demand respect . After 2 years of my tour in Japan I got stationed in California. While in California i rediscovered my passion for music. I began freestyling and recording myself to the point where music became apart of me.
Even though Hip Hop has always been my passion, I grew up listening to a wide selection of music ranging from Salsa to Reggae and of course the Hip Hop greats. Tupac, Biggie, Jay Z, Naz and Jadakiss were my introduction to hip hop and were major story Artist telling stories of the life I’ve witnessed. In my younger years I played with the idea of rhyming and making music but it wasn’t until I finished my tour in Japan and came back to the States that I begin to lyrically evolve and play with words, sounds and melodies, which is now the music that tells the story of my life.
